Internship - Automation Engineer W/M
We are looking for an Automation Engineer intern (W/M) to join the HTS (High Temperature Superconductors) department, which is responsible for the development and production of high-temperature superconductors, key components in the operation of fusion reactors.
In this context, we are developing thin film deposition machines incorporating roll-to-roll systems for the continuous production of HTS superconducting tapes.
As an Automation Engineer intern, you will be involved in the design, improvement and automation of a roll-to-roll system used in thin film deposition machines dedicated to the production of HTS superconductors.
We are offering a six-month end-of-studies internship starting in February 2026.
Your main responsibilities
Analysis of the existing roll-to-roll system (mechanical architecture, kinematics, performance)
Mechanical design and improvement of the system (reliability, precision, repeatability, maintenance)
Participation in the automation of the system (sensors, actuators, unwinding/rewinding control)
Optimisation of operating parameters for HTS tape production
Prototyping, testing and validation of proposed solutions
Drafting of technical documentation and test reports
Requirements
Please do not hesitate to apply even if you don't meet all our requirements. Superheroes do not exist - but people with passion and talent do!
Engineering diploma or master's degree specialising in: Automation/industrial systems, Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent field
Interest in automated systems and production machinery
Practical mindset, rigour and autonomy
An interest in cutting-edge technologies (energy, superconductivity, nuclear fusion) is a plus
