Electrical Engineer
As a member of the liquid metal experimental team, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer with a strong technical curiosity, rigor, and precision to set up a flow control feedback loop to stabilize (in thickness and uniformity) thick layers of flowing liquid metal by applying electromagnetic forces.
In this context, you will be involved in the design and implementation of electrical systems integrated into the special machines developed by Renaissance Fusion, while adhering to quality, cost, and time constraints.
Responsabilities
Electrical activities
- Design schematics and panel layouts for electrical power & PLC control cabinets for liquid metal loops and experiments (liquid metal thickness and uniformity, heating systems and temperature control)
- Select electrical and power electronic components for the assembly of electrical systems (AC and DC).
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, and experimentalists to ensure electrical designs meet functional specifications and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot sensors and instruments used for liquid metal characterization (thickness, uniformity, temperature) and assist data interpretation
- Contribute to improvements on electrical current injection schemes (reducing contact resistance for low power and high current injection)
Documentation and training
- Write high-quality documentation of electrical systems and components, including specifications and operation manuals, maintain revision control.
- Train users
Scientific communication and monitoring
- Prepare scientific reports (presentations, posters, etc.) and represent RF to scientific conferences and workshops.
- Participate in the writing of scientific papers.
- Remain on the lookout for any scientific developments in his/her field of expertise.
- May supervise and assist trainees and/or technicians during electrical installations.
Requirements
Please do not hesitate to apply even if you don't meet all our requirements. Superheroes do not exist - but people with passion and talent do!
Education and professional experience:
- Master’s degree in electric, electronic engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering
- Previous experience with inductive systems (motors, continuous steal casting, transformers…) is a plus
Languages
- Fluent in English (C1)
- Knowledge (B1 or higher) of French is a plus
Technical skills
- Circuits design: AutoCAD Electrical, See Electrical, EPLAN
- Experience with test bench sensors: Thermocouples, thermistors, strain gauges, Hall probes, piezoelectric sensors, load cells, …
- Experience with gathering requirements and turning them into working device
