Group Leader Magnet Construction and Experiments
We are looking for a Group leader of Magnet Construction and Experiments to manage the activities of the magnet construction & experiments group and supervise the construction, testing, assembly and operation of the high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet systems, together with their support structures and feeders, while fulfilling the requirements on time, cost and quality.
You main responsibilities will be:
- Magnet construction
- Working in close coordination with the magnet modelling team and the magnet design team, supervise the in-house or outsourced fabrication of magnet components, including HTS coils, feeders, and work with other internal engineering groups for mechanical support structures and associated cooling/instrumentation systems.
- Ensure that all components and assemblies meet technical specifications, performance requirements, and quality standards.
- Oversee the mechanical and functional integration of the complete magnet system into the machine environment.
- Contribute to the selection of subcontractors and industrial partners in collaboration with the procurement team and the PMO.
- Monitor the progress of deliverables with respect to cost, schedule, and quality targets, while identifying and mitigating technical and logistical risks.
- Support the definition of technical requirements for procurement packages and ensure proper validation of subcontractor deliverables.
- Magnet Testing, Commissioning, and Functional Validation
- Supervise and contribute to the definition & planification of experimental setups & procedures to test and validate HTS magnet systems performance and characteristics (mechanical, electrical, vacuum, cryogenics, etc.).
- Ensure successful execution of commissioning phases and qualification procedures in the operational environment.
- Coordinate data collection & analysis from test rigs for the charaterization of magnet systems (measurements of critical current, time constants, magnetic field, temperature, stress, electrical dynamics, etc…).
- Carry out and/or supervise the tests execution and results assessessment to confirm compliance with performance criteria or initiate corrective measures when needed.
- Team management
- Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within your team, and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference and unified force) and policies.
- Encourage collaboration at all levels of the organization.
- Ensure that your team is motivated to achieve its objectives.
- Take an active role in talent development.

- Scientific outcome
- Coordinate the writing, review and approval of patents and scientific papers.
- Prepare scientific reports (presentations, posters, etc.) and represent Renaissance Fusion to scientific conferences and workshops.
- Remain on the lookout for any scientific developments in his/her field of expertise.
Requirements

*Education and professional experience
- PhD or Master’s degree + equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical or related field
- Previous experience in the superconductor/magnet industry or high-tech laboratories would be a plus
- 8+ years of experience in superconductive magnet engineering and construction
- Experience as a technical leader/coordinator and/or project management
*Language requirements
- Fluent in English (C1/C2)
- Knowledge (B1 or higher) of French is a plus
