Scientific Spokesperson and Conference Organizer
We are looking for an eloquent and captivating Scientific Spokesperson and Conference Organizer to convey RF's scientific message to the scientific community and promote scientific dialogue within the company. In the course of your duties, you are required to travel up to 40% of the time (on an international scale).
Responsibilities
Organization of conferences and scientific events
- Organizes internal technical seminars given by either internal or external speakers, including but not limited to monthly and 6-month summaries, past-work and end-of-trial period summaries, and conference reports
- In collaboration with the Head of Academic Programs, identify technical conferences relevant to RF and coordinate who goes where and presents what.
- Coach colleagues in good presentation delivery and coordinates their rigorous rehearsal of external presentations.
- Ensure quality of all external presentations
- Organize, coordinate and deploy the participation of RF speakers (including herself/himself) at national and international conferences, as well as seminars at universities and labs
- Mobilize and extend the RF network to identify external speakers and offer internal seminars on a regular basis
Scientific spokesperson
- Present Renaissance Fusion’s technical results at scientific conferences and seminars at universities, national and international labs.
- Use speaking opportunities to promote RF and grow its network of potential collaborators and future hires
- Engage with the scientific community to present our advances, with an average target of 2-3 talks per month
- Maintain an archive of RF technical presentations, both internal and external, to feed a database for future presentations and “ready-to-use” material.

Education and professional experience
- PhD-level scientist or former scientist with broad, generalist interests and an ability to divulge specialist information to non-specialists.
- Significant communication experience at international conferences
- Excellent communicator, notably in English.
Languages
- Fluent in English & French (C1-C2)
- Proficiency in an additional language is appreciated
Technical skills
- Mastery of best practices in scientific oral communication to deliver engaging presentations
- Ability to translate complex scientific terms into accessible messages for different audiences, experience in writing popular science content
- Knowledge or strong interest in fusion principles (tokamaks, stellarators, inertial confinement, etc.)
Other requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel at least 2-3 times per month
Bonus Points
- Excellent communicator in French.
- Strong background with direct research experience in at least one of the three “technological pillars” of RF: fusion, HTS or liquid metals.
