Group leader HTS characterization
We are looking for an inspiring and dynamic Group leader of HTS (High temperature superconductors) characterization to define the thin film characterization strategy across all deposition stages and supervises daily operations of the HTS characterization team, ensuring the development and application of robust methods to deliver high-quality assessments and support innovation in HTS material.
Responsibilities
- Thin film characterization activities
- Validate the thin film characterization strategy, oversee and guide advanced characterization activities of HTS thin films using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning/transmission electron microscopy (SEM/TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, electrical transport measurements, and SQUID magnetometry.
- Ensure accurate evaluation of superconducting properties, including critical current/temperature (Ic/Tc), critical current density (Jc), and magnetic field response.
- Supervise the development, optimization, and implementation of measurement protocols to assess film thickness, surface morphology, crystalline orientation, grain boundaries, and composition.
- Review and validate data analysis approaches and ensure scientific rigor in interpretation.
- Coordinate investigations on the correlation between manufacturing processes (e.g., polishing, CVD, PVD) and HTS film properties, and drive knowledge transfer to upstream teams.
- Translate microscopic and performance data into actionable insights for process improvement and material optimization.
- Provide expert support in troubleshooting material-related issues, including defects, strain effects, and interface challenges.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and continuous improvement of characterization tools and methodologies to guarantee data reliability and reproducibility.
- Team management
