CVD process engineer
As a member of the High Temperature Superconducting (HTS), we are looking for a MOCVD (metal organic chemical vapor deposition) process engineer with strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills. The successful candidate will model, construct and experimentally characterizes HTS tapes.
Your main responsibilities will be:
*Process engineering
- Provide process expertise for guiding the design of the MOCVD machine
- Design and implement characterization methods for seed layers and HTS films
- Participate in machine commissioning and troubleshooting
- Develop Design of Experiments for MOCVD process optimization leading to uniform epitaxial growth of high performance HTS and related thin films
- Prepare and operate the MOCVD machine including maintenance and documentation, as needed manage operation of a large format PVD machine.
- Write and regularly update operation guide for the MOCVD process
- Contribute to continuous improvements in manufacturing large format HTS films in collaboration with the rest of the HTS team
- Develop novel solutions and contribute to new intellectual property
- Identify machine design improvements and participate in their implementation based on modelling and data from characterization methods
*Support for other teams
- Provide the Fusion Engineering and Science teams with accurate information on the capabilities and limitations of the HTS films, and advice on their integration in stellarators and in non-fusion magnets
You are the ideal profile if:
*Education and professional experience
- PhD degree in materials science, physics, or chemical engineering, or related field, or equivalently:
- Master’s degree + 2 years of research or professional experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of research or professional experience
- Working experience in CVD processing or/and development for at least 2 years
*Language requirements
- Fluent in English (C1)
*Technical competencies
- In-depth knowledge in thin film deposition and/or nanofabrication
- Detailed knowledge of MOCVD equipment
- Basics knowledges on automation and process monitoring
- Knowledge of CAD: Solid Works or Inventor
- Coding experience in Python, Matlab or other programming language is a plus
