Internship - Quality evaluation of different engraving strategies in HTS striation
Context
High Temperature Superconductors (HTSs) hold the potential to revolutionize industries ranging from energy and transportation to medical imaging. As a groundbreaking technology, HTSs enable the generation of significantly higher magnetic fields than traditional conductors, making them pivotal for advancing fusion energy research. As awareness of their transformative benefits grows, both researchers and companies are increasingly investing in innovative applications to harness the unique properties of HTS.
In line with this exciting frontier, Renaissance Fusion SAS is partnering with the Laboratoire Hubert Curien at Université Jean Monnet (Saint-Étienne) to research the laser processing of HTS materials. This technology has the potential to enhance their performance and unlock new properties that could shape the future of various high-tech applications.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate currently pursuing or completing an M2 to join our dynamic research team in a 6 month internship to conduct experiments in both centers.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be studying laser striation of HTS with different laser sources to try to outperform the current state of the art.
You will conduct research at Renaissance Fusion (Fontaine) and Laboratoire Hubert Curien (St Etienne) having access at the equipment of both.
Your main tasks:
- Design and perform parametric studies
- Operation of cutting-edge laser processing setups
- Perform surface and electrical characterization of samples
- Participate in result analysis and preparation of scientific reports.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree in photonics, electrical engineering, physics, material science or related field.
- Previous experience in HTS, laser processing or high-tech laboratories is a plus.
- Fluent in English (C1)
- Solution-oriented with high problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel between Grenoble and Saint-Étienne
