Group Leader Magnet Design
We are looking for a Group leader of Magnets Design to manage the activities of the magnet design group and supervise the detailed design of the high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet systems, together with their support structures and feeders, while fulfilling the requirements on time, cost and quality.
You main responsibilities will be:
- Magnet design
- Coordinate the design of the HTS magnet systems in collaboration with other groups (cryogenics, vacuum, electrical, etc.)
- Lead the development of technical solutions for the design of the windings, joints, current leads and cooling systems, definition of materials and assessment of interfaces to the other neighbouring components, development of instrumentation requirements, etc.
- Define the R&D activities and required qualifications to validate the design by taking into account the construction/assembly processes and techniques
- Manage the interfaces with other design and engineering groups: the vessel & thermal shield teams, system engineering, electrical/electronic engineers, vacuum/cryostat engineers, and others as required
- Coordinate the detailed design of the HTS magnet systems with their support structures and feeder lines, and their integration in the machine
- Supervise the writing of technical documentations, specifications and quality assurance documents in accordance to Renaissance Fusion's guidelines
- Team management
- Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within your team, and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference and unified force) and policies.
- Encourage collaboration at all levels of the organization.
- Ensure that your team is motivated to achieve its objectives.
- Take an active role in talent development.
- Comply with and enforce the highest Health, Environment and Safety standards within her/his team.
- Scientific outcome
- Coordinate the writing, review and approval of patents and scientific papers.
- Prepare scientific reports (presentations, posters, etc.) and represent Renaissance Fusion to scientific conferences and workshops.
- Remain on the lookout for any scientific developments in his/her field of expertise.
Requirements

*Education and professional experience
- PhD or Master’s degree + equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical or related field
- Previous experience in the superconductor/magnet industry or high-tech laboratories would be a plus
- 8+ years of experience in superconductive magnet design
- Experience as a technical leader/coordinator and/or project management
*Language requirements
- Fluent in English (C1/C2)
- Knowledge (B1 or higher) of French is a plus
