Head of public affairs and media relations
We are looking for a charismatic, enterprising Head of Public Affairs and Media Relations to be a key player in Renaissance Fusion's outreach with the public authorities, energy industry stakeholders, regulation, media and any other influential body likely to be involved in the development of nuclear fusion.
Your main responsibilities will be:
*Public Affairs:
- Lead government affairs and public affairs. Educate about fusion and promote Renaissance Fusion to:
- regional, national and international political institutions
- funding agencies
- other stakeholders
- Seek, establish and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, media, potential suppliers, partners in consortia and other stakeholders in the field of nuclear energy.
- Create a movement for fusion by converting stakeholders from other landscapes (nuclear, electricity etc.) into supporters of this profitable solution to climate change.
- Participate in public consultations and draft position papers and statements on behalf of the start-up.
- Lead the non-technical aspects of grant-writing (forming consortia, budgeting, staffing, etc.).
- Represent Renaissance Fusion in national and international organizations such as Nuclear Vallée, the Fusion Industry Association etc., as well as national and international panels organized by IEA, IAEA, etc.
*Media Relations in collaboration with the communication specialist:
- Build a media communication strategy to increase the start-up’s visibility.
- Supervise media relations and responses to journalist inquiries.
- Oversee press releases, articles, and content for social media.
- Handle media crises and develop crisis communication plans.
*Internal and External Communication in collaboration with the communication specialist:
- Supervise the work of the communication specialist on all matters relating to internal and external communication to ensure key messages are effectively communicated both internally and externally.
- Approve communication materials (presentations, brochures, reports, etc.) for various stakeholders.
*Team management:
- Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within his/her team, and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference and unified force) and policies.
- Encourage collaboration at all levels of the organization.
- Ensure that his/her team is motivated to achieve its objectives: set targets and follow them up with encouragement, support, feedback and responsibility.
- Ensure that employees are in the best position to achieve their objectives: listen to them, look after their well-being, make sure they have the appropriate tools and skills; fill the gap if necessary (recruitment, training, reorganization…).
- Take an active role in talent development: identify potential, determine areas and opportunities for development, encourage reflection on professional projects, propose training courses.
You are the ideal profile if:
*Education and professional experience
- Master’s degree in political science or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in public affairs in the field of energy and sustainability.
*Language requirements
- Fluent in English (C2 level or native) and in French (minimum C1 level).
- Skill in any other language is a plus.
*Technical competencies
- Basic knowledge of the energy sector, fusion, regulation.
- Excellent knowledge of nuclear fusion stakeholders and other influential bodies, especially in France.
- Knowledge of financial management.
- Management skills.
