Communication specialist
We are looking for a multi-talented person: an excellent communicator in English and other languages, versed in new technologies and new media, able to explain complex science and give it an artistic touch by means of graphics and videos, able to convey the environmental and financial impact of our mission and to interface with different stakeholders, with an eye or two on marketing (of the idea, the vision, the technology).
Your main responsibilities will be:
*Communication strategy and monitoring:
- Develop and implement a communication and marketing strategy to help meeting the company’s short-term and long-term strategic, branding and positioning goals in the areas of: business development, go-to-market strategy, relations with investors, future customers, the media and the broader public.
- Act as the guardian of the company's external image, ensuring that each communication reflects the mission, values, and achievements of Renaissance Fusion.
- Define and calculate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns, ensuring regular tracking and adjustments based on results.
*Public relations & content writing:
- Establish and maintain relationships with the media, industrial partners, and stakeholders.
- Issue press-releases on major news from the company (scientific breakthroughs, new patents, funding rounds closed, new collaborations) and “push them” with appropriate outlets.
- Occasionally write non-technical articles on Renaissance Fusion, commercial fusion in general, and its spin-offs for blogs, magazines etc.
*Social media branding and website management:
- Be responsible for the management of the company's website, ensuring content relevance, user-friendliness, and regular updates.
- Implement a dynamic and strategic presence on social media by regularly publishing news and stories -either of his/her own, or proposed by coworkers, to highlight events, latest developments, projects, and strengthen brand awareness.
- Realize videos for posting on company website and YouTube. Break up with audio and video clichés of scientific documentaries by borrowing from more dynamic genres such as music videoclips; uses energetic, unconventional but pertinent music backgrounds to sculpt the company brand.
- Realize animations, alone or in collaboration with external contractors, to illustrate technologies, future products and their merits, either for on-line posting or for in-person presentations.
*Internal communication:
- Facilitate internal communication within the company by developing effective channels and communication tools when needed. Typically, gather internal information on recent results, company news or other updates. Consolidate them into newsletters for internal and external dissemination.
- Assist in organizing “town-hall meetings”.
*Event communication management (excluding scientific communication events):
- In collaboration with the Head of Business development, evaluate and select relevant event opportunities in alignment with strategic communication and business development objectives.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the company's presence at significant events, including industry conferences, trade shows, investor-related events and job fairs.
- Designs and orders to external contractors promotional material for conferences, fairs and reward-based crowdfunding campaigns.
- Assist in the preparation of oral presentations (e.g. pitch deck) and written documents by recommending and implementing formal and substantial changes in the interest of clarity and engagement. Streamlines the message, makes it more targeted and compelling, enrich it with graphics, infographics, story-telling etc.
You are the ideal profile if:
*Education and professional experience:
- Master’s degree in communication, business or related field or engineering with significant experience in communication
- 3+ years of working experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Communications, journalism
- Applied arts (design, graphics, computer graphics, web-design, video-making etc.)
- Marketing
- Experience in Social networking
- Experienced in a startup, scientific, and/or technological environment is a plus, as well as experience as a science youtuber, blogger etc.
* Language requirements:
- Fluent in English & French (C2), oral and written
- Proficiency in an additional language is appreciated
* Technical competencies:
- Excellent knowledge of communication trends on social networks
- In-depth understanding of challenges related to the development and commercialization of advanced technologies
- Mastery of best communication practices to promote technological innovations in the market
- Video editing skills, artistic sensitivity
- Analytical skills (excel, statistics…) to measure the impact of communication initiatives
- Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
- Mastery of graphics packages such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or other.
